Explosion-Proof GEWEE Fixed Gas Detectors: Key Features for Safe Operations in Hazardous Areas (Zone 1 & 2)

narrow alley with smoke pipes

GEWEE’s explosion-proof fixed gas detectors are designed to ensure safe operations in hazardous areas classified as Zones 1 and 2. These detectors combine advanced gas detection technologies with robust construction to provide reliable monitoring of combustible and toxic gases.

Advanced IR/Laser Sensors for Precise Detection

The GDE series of combustible gas detectors utilize high-performance infrared (IR) or laser sensors, ensuring high sensitivity and accuracy. The sensors have a long life of over five years and can detect a wide range of gases, including combustible gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These detectors feature auto temperature compensation and zero calibration, minimizing drift and false alarms.

Versatile Options for Multiple Environments

GDC series detectors offer flexibility with catalytic, semiconductor, and IR sensors, suitable for detecting combustible gases, VOCs, carbon monoxide, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, and more. These products are ideal for diverse industrial settings such as oil refineries, chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and power generation plants.

Built for Durability and Compliance

GEWEE’s detectors are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions with IP66-rated enclosures. The GDC810 and GDC811 models are certified for use in Zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas with Exd IIC T6 Gb ratings. Their materials range from epoxy-coated cast aluminum to stainless steel, ensuring longevity and resistance to corrosion.

Smart Diagnostics and Easy Maintenance

The detectors are equipped with visual LED indicators for status updates (normal, fault, low alarm, high alarm) and electrical outputs (4–20 mA or RS485) for seamless integration into control systems. Optional relays and built-in HART communication protocols simplify connectivity with external alarms or controllers. The GDA series further emphasizes ease of setup with its compact design and simplified operation using an infrared remote control.

Scalable Solutions with Centralized Control

The GM810/GM820 series gas alarm controllers offer a DCS-like architecture for large-scale monitoring. These modules support automatic addressing via bus communication, reducing installation complexity. The touchscreen interface and built-in circuit protection make the system easy to operate and maintain.
